We are thrilled to welcome the Scholastic Book Fair back to Walter Hays this week, November 14-17. Each classroom will visit with their class at a set time, the book fair will be open for lunch recess, and we will have the fair available for parent shopping for a half an hour every day after school. We are also thrilled that Pizza PJ Night will be on Thursday, November 17 from 5-7pm where you can attend the book fair with your kid, pick up pizza for dinner, and Principal Mary Bussman and Librarian Jennifer Ford will be doing special storytimes for the kids so you can shop unhindered.

Pizza will not be sold at the event. Only pre-orders will be available for pick up.

Please order pizza ahead of time – DEADLINE to order is Tues. 11/15. Purchase HERE

Here is what we need from you!

1) To make shopping easier for your child during the week, load funds onto an e-wallet that they can use during their class visit and/or during lunch hours. Visit our book fair website for instructions on how to do this. MOST CLASSROOM VISITS WILL BE HAPPENING ON MONDAY, SO LOAD YOUR FUNDS BY SUNDAY NIGHT!

2) We depend on parent volunteers to help us run this fair.  We need 6 more volunteers for PJ/Pizza night 11/17, so please sign up for your slot on Parent Square here.

3) Scholarships for students to buy books at the fair are being offered. If you would like your child to take advantage of this opportunity, please send an email to Principal Mary at

4) If you are not able to make it to the fair in person, you can also order books online.

5) Plan to attend the book fair with your student on Thursday night, November 17, from 5-7 in the MP room.

6)  Please note the fair will NOT be open on Friday so the last chance to purchase books is Thursday.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions! All funds raised go to our library to purchase new books for the school year.
