Second Grade Distance Learning Read-a-thon for COVID Relief in India

To put May's core value of cooperation into action, the 2nd grade distance learning students have decided to log the pages they read from May 14th until May 27th to raise money to support the people suffering from COVID in India.

They came up with this idea after the grandfather of two children in the class passed away from COVID last week. Total pages read by the class will be shared with the Walter Hays community on Tuesday, June 1st, so that people can make their donations.

Donations will be made directly to Give India.
Click this link to make your Pledge.

Thank you for the support!

Mindfulness Corner: Add Some (Free!) Mindfulness this Summer

Summer is just around the corner. For kids, summer may evoke a sense of play and freedom as the school year fades into memory. For parents, summer may bring new or added stresses as you balance new routines, child care, and work demands, among other things.

Why not try to add some mindfulness to your day to slow it down? There are a number of free - yes, free! - resources available such as:

  • Niroga Institute regularly offers free mindfulness webinars.
  • UCLA has a free mindfulness app.
  • Canada College has some free mindfulness resources here including Spanish versions.
  • UC Davis offers a variety of resources here.
  • Mindful Magazine also has a page of free resources here.

Let us know if you find any additional resources and would like to pass them on.
Have a deliciously mindful summer.
